excuse me.. i have a filly that is going through a problem with her back legs. i dont rush or use harsh handling of any sort. shes good all round and quieter then my older horse. i have a feeling something or someone has harmed her or she has leg problems. but then again people say its nothing that shes just getting older and fussy. i tried the stick hand but soon as i use my own she flinches and jolts forward….why?

I really love his personality to the horses. Not only is he slow but he gentle and almost “motherly” if you know what I mean. He pushes the babe just out the its comfort zone and then comes back into the comfort zone without ever mentally damaging the horse. He is really lovely to watch

I know how to train this plastic! 😀

Awesome. Monty was the first horse “whisperer” I’d ever seen before I realized there were so many. But I still thinks he’s the original and greatest. Thanks for uploading this video!

    I brought you a present! 😀

    would a join-up work with a 1yr old filly?

@Shokara2 Presumably pmu means the horrible ‘pregnant mare urine’ industry that treats foals like waste products. Shut it down by boycotting the products, humane plant product alternatives exist. I work with rescue horses and I have also raised orphaned kittens who were tiny, my cats. My experience is any type of rescued animal will bond even more deeply with the rescuer – their love and gratitude is very strong. I have experienced this many times. I have used Monty’s system already – fantastic!

MONTY GOD BLESS YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR HORSES — LETTING THE HUMAN MASSES KNOW THAT HORSES’ ARE SOMEONE TOO & HAVE A SENSE OF SELF. [HORSES HAVE A GREATER SENSE THAN MANY HUMANS I KNOW TOO] THANK YOU MONTY.

I wish instead of buying from a breeder more people would rescue a PMU foal or other horse that would have been so carelessly discarded. it just breaks my heart=[

Monty has about 15 DVDs of lessons now and 7 books. I highly recommend From My Hands to Yours, his textbook. And his EQUUS online university on his website

@Shinypants52 Yes, Monty has done a Join-Up with a wild mustang on 1000s of acres. You want the horse’s energy to flow as opposed to stopping their flight mechanism down in the corners of an arena. Some people have used bales or jump poles in the corners to round out the arena.

he’s amazing i have his movie and alot of his books. btw would it be okay to use a small riding ring opposed to a round pen?

@debbieloucks LOL exactly Diazreta. Breed doesn’t give 100% give temperament… the horses experiences do. PMUs are taken away from their mothers EXCEPTIONAL young.. far from even being weaned some when they are only days or even hours old. They severely lack trust from that bond being taken away too soon… or having never been allowed to even form.

I really love the people who don’t just stick die hard to one particular trainer. I think that all the famous horse trainers have great ideas on horse training. Its all about blending and finding the right combination for you and your horse. Although, Monty Roberts is my favorite

@gemorge most racehorse trainers just want their horses to be the fastest. They could care less if the horse is jumpy or not. and yea ALL horse trainers should see this. You can still have a fast horse without it being jumpy as all getout. or gate shy

awe this sucks. arabs are such touchy animals :( but once they have your trust they do amazing things for you and they are definatly one of the best partners. keep trying bud! once you break that wall your horse has built up, i garentee you will have an amazing companion

My mare always needs a hug before I touch her halter, but she wont let me get near her. she is an arabian horse standing at 14.2 hh. I tried a join up and it worked in 6 mins. she followed me around and let me hugg her. but she still won’t let my touch her out in the field.

It was over 15 years ago I believe that I read Monty Roberts first book “Horse Whisperer”?? This book changed my life and how I lived it with horses.
ALL of my horses have benefitted from his book- from my paint stallion to all my arabians- they all thank him too!! Love it and still use his info to this day.
