The Hampton Classic Horse Show is one of the largest and most prestigious hunter/jumper horse shows in the United States. With over 1600 horses competing each year for hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money, the Hampton Classic is also a magnet for celebrities and one of the most talked-about social events of the summer in the glamorous Hamptons.

The Hampton Classic attracts hunter and jumper competitors from near and far, as well as VIP spectators like New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, whose daughter Georgina is an equestrian, and Sonja Morgan of “The Real Housewives of New York,” who were both under the VIP tent in 2011.

In addition to competitions and celeb-spotting, the Classic also offers pony rides, petting zoos, boutique shopping and several special events, such as the ASPCA Adoption Day on Monday.

On Saturday, the day before the Classic gets started, Harvest East End: The Wine & Food Classic, celebrating local wine and flavors, will take place at the showgrounds at 240 Snake Hollow Road at 6 p.m. The evening’s net proceeds will benefit East End Hospice, Group for the East End, and the Peconic Land Trust. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased at the door.
